Defending Myself

Fisking a liar and an idiot...

I'm going to try and present this in such a way that the original writer is not identifiable. There are edits from the original message to eliminate further identifiable comments and to make the sex of the presenter unknown. That being said, let me engage in the time honored tradition of fisking this thing.

Note: My comments are in blue and italicized.

After the media attention that Dave Lenihan garnered after the slur 'incident', there've been people that went berserk over my avatar on my forums, which happened to be that of a Confederate Flag. That's something from my heritage that I embrace.

And you should embrace your heritage. You should also understand that there are many others who feel that the Stars and Bars are offensive. I lived in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia for many years and fully understand the heritage that the Confederate flag represents. I sent you an email a while back suggesting that you might want to use another image as an avatar; you chose to ignore my advice.

Mike Anderson is a 57 year old, crippled, Vietnam Veteran.

Crippled? Hardly. Where did you get that idea? Or is that just something you're making up? Another lie? Disabled and have to get around occasionally with a cane? Yes. And he/her seems to speak of being a Vietnam Veteran as if there's something wrong with that. Did he/her just see Rambo or Platoon or one of the other movies that painted the nearly two million men and women who honorably served during that painful time in US history as crazed killers and drugged out weirdos? Did he/her buy into the John Jerry "Winter Soldier" crap? In fact, what does he/her know the country's history in that era? Nothing, I bet.

He has slandered me for months. He goes on and on and on. He operates a website at www.stlmedia.net. His forums, which are linked from there is where he does most of his dirty work.

I have never slandered this person. Anything I have ever published about him/her has been either a quote from his/her website or warranted critique of his/her mediocre airwork based on my experience. Dirty work? Wow, what an emotionally-loaded phrase. Or is that just his/her memory of a Steely Dan song? Evidently it has not occurred to him/her that this website has existed for almost six years before his/her appearance here and has critiqued many radio, tv and print situations (and hosted intelligent responses) without such childish whining.

About a month ago, a fan of mine googles Mike's wife's name. Her name was on his website. He finds something about some patent that she has. This person commented about the product on his website. This led Mike to email managament at KTRS saying he was going to file a lawsuit. I still am trying to figure out how I had anything at all to do with that. Much less, why that was something that was threatening to him in the 1st place.

I explained that in an email to Mr. Law, but I'll explain it again because it clearly didn't get through to his/her memory: Mrs. Anderson's company was engaged in a private negotiation involving marketing terms for a product at that time; exposure of information regarding that negotiation could have disrupted the discussion and cost her company the project and a lot of money. Mr. Law rightly asked him/her to desist, which he/she did. Smart move.

After that, he found something my wife/husband had written in his/her blog in October of 2005. After he posted the text from that, he called him/her 'stupid', 'immature', 'redneck', and 'an unfit father/mother'.(To paraphrase.) He has recently went on a crazy rant and called me all of that, plus 'spineless', 'stupid', etc.

I never said any of those things, never used any of those words. His/her use of the paranthetical (to paraphrase) would seem to prove my point. And I did not "went" on a rant. I might have "gone" on one, though. More lies.

In my profession, my job is to win people over. If a website takes on myself in slanderous tones, it makes it that much harder for me to solidify myself to an audience, and future endeavors.

No, in his/her profession, his/her job is to sell stuff that the commercials inbetween his/her talk blocks offer. And, God, I love the way this previous paragraph is written. "Takes on myself"...

So, what I've done to correct all of this, is to report him to his server and to the owner/server of his forum.

Oh, yeah, that solves everything. The server owners investigate, ask questions of everyone involved, suggest changes that will mollify all of the parties, causing a brief pain in the butt for the writer, and then life continues. Of course, they'll do this because they're anxious to avoid any evidence of impropriety and lessen their legal exposure. They may or may not eliminate services. We'll see.

Mike Anderson's forum will be deleted by proboards this week. Possibly as early as you read this.

No, we don't know this (see above). I guess he/she can only hope for this.

As you know, this will kill MA. He sits at his terminal at 3, 4, 5, 6 am trying to say something about me that will garner a knee jerk reaction.

No, it would not kill me. There are other MB providers if this worst case comes to pass because of his/her chronic whining, lies and misrepresentation. And the times that I work through the day mean, exactly, what? I do much of my work late at night because there are fewer disruptions. The phone does not ring, the dogs are asleep and I can concentrate on the project at hand. I work for myself. I set my own hours. I don't need a lot of sleep. Hate that? Live with it, but don't lie about it or misrepresent it.

Mike, next time you have something false to say about me or my WIFE, click down to channel 20 on your CB so I can hear it.

Maybe he/she's still using a CB. I have one, but only for road trips. And actually, it stopped being useful almost a decade ago. And I've never said anything false about him/her or his/her wife/husband. Never. He/she's lying again.

There are a certain few who think KTRS is a laughing stock of the radio industry.

A certain few? That's a joke, right? The station is considered throughout the industry as the absolute worst place to work. Make some calls, Bozo.

Well, yeah, the Dave Lenihan incident couldn't have helped very much, but the ideaology behind KTRS is genius. I'll tell you why.

This is gonna be good...can't wait for him/her to 'spress his/herself:

When I interviewed I did a considerable amount of research on the current state of radio within the St. Louis confines. Here lies a town of 80% of Catholics. Here lies, at that time about 4 radio stations that are CONSERVATIVE TALK. Who says Catholics, or any other group of religion, is really that conservative? I told Al Brady Law on our first meeting that I, as a 35 year old guy, am underserved. I wouldn't want to listen to Rush. I wouldn't want to listen to 97.1 - at anytime of the day. Al said, "I agree with you. Our trouble will be to see if those people will come to AM." I didn't think this at the time, but I sure wish I'd said, "Well, they come for FRANK!" I still got the job, but I think he may have said, "HMM!"

Yeah, I think he should have had second thoughts, too. But you were affordable. You were unemployed and hungry and on your last legs before taking the job at McDonalds. So was every other one of the FNG's except Bob Bruce, who has since been pushed to the back of the bus. I'm happy that your wife/husband and child are being fed now, but you should never forget that Al bought a used car rather than a new one. Imagine how much more you could be earning had you been working when Al hired you...

If you think about it for a minute, we are doing something that a rare few would have the 'gumption' to do. A minority of people, stlmedia.net, think of radio in the harshest of conservative terms. Trouble is, as a whole, society isn't really THAT conservative.

Please...those on the MB are not all that conservative. On another MB, Al referred to this concept as an experiment. He sold it to the bosses and he sold it to to you. Nobody knows if this will work, or if the Cardinals will sell off KTRS and move the games to another station.

Mike referred to my flag as 'white supremeisist imagery'.

No, I referred to it as "white supremacist" imagery. But the phrase actually should have been "white supremist" imagery, which it is.

Mike agreed all over the news that he agreed with KTRS's decision to fire him. The negative: Mike should have not gone on the pub tour. Mike should have corrected himself and moved on. Mike should have never said anything to anyone before consulting with an attorney. That's real.

No, what's real is that I have from the beginning of the Lenihan thing supported Dave. I did no "pub tour" and I have no reason to correct myself. He/she's just lying about me again.
