A cluebat for Mr. Hogan from Mr. Anderson: Sir, listeners are laughing at you.
They are aware of CC's predatory media business practices.
They don't like you because your company has driven the cost of concert attendance through the roof.
They don't like you because your insidious relationship with record labels has driven all forms of popular music below the lowest common denominator.
They don't like you because your never-ending need to pay off your overpriced radio properties has caused the dismissal of their favorite radio personalities as a cost-saving measure and has all but driven experienced radio programming, sales and engineering management out of the business.
They don't like you because the technical quality of most of your radio stations is crap -- distortion does not equal long-term listenability. No, louder is NOT always better!
Advertising clients laugh at you because they know that, regardless of what you say, you will do anything to get their business...anything!
Fewer commercials and "improved" ad copy means squat to listeners who now have a whole world of new options for listening to their favorites, most of which come thru their PC's and Mac's and go directly to their MP3 players.
And they laugh at your 300+ new channels of HD radio. 300 more channels of crap is, well, a lot more crap than they need, whether it's analog or digital, AM or FM. I'll be really surprised if the great unwashed masses you perceive as your audience throw in the cash to listen. I know I won't.
Mr. Hogan, you and your company have singlehandedly done to a great industry what Hollywood has done to movies, MLB did to baseball and the NFL did to football...you've pasteurized, homogenized, glutenized, nationalized, french-fried and deep-fried radio, and for that, sir, you should be deeply ashamed.
